When Verna Maruata at the Ascended Masters Portal says that ascension is “the increasing of our light and the lessening of our karma” and to strive to achieve it, we must have “heart-based thoughts, actions and speech”; My brain goes: “Say whaaat? It’s not that simple!!”. Although it can be simple, sometimes we unknowingly make it complicated. Perhaps you thought, I got this!!! But then your feelings were hurt and your reaction only made you berate yourself later on (heads up, sometimes the hardest mountain to climb is to be nice to ourselves). The fact is, we are all unique, therefore our paths are too; Something is certain though- the path never ends, we continue to learn lessons and move forward (yes, even after the 7th +).
We know that an important part of ascension is to raise our vibration, which then raises our consciousness or vice-versa. Consciousness is knowing all the mental, emotional and spiritual parts of ourselves and vibrations, quite simply are our emotions. Emotions are energy in motion, when we show up with fear we create low vibrations, whereas joy raises our vibration and frequency.
To increase our consciousness (and climb the ladder of ascension), we work on our emotions/vibrations- you can do this just by tuning into love and joy, however, we can’t ignore the rest of the emotions. They need to be mastered so that when they arise we are better equipped to process them. I enjoy understanding where they came from and why are they there, but all that is needed is to recognize them and breathe them out. I personally feel that with self-reflection and self-discovery we can learn to tune into joy and master our mental and spiritual selves.
Throughout my journey, I’ve used art as a means of self-exploration and self-understanding. Knowing that we are conduits of energy, I’ve used paint and canvas to transfer difficult emotions to it. This has made it easier for me to understand and release difficult experiences. Through the creative process I engage in self-reflection, and oftentimes this leads to new self-discoveries or insights. My favorite is to see when Higher Self has embedded or coded messages/ symbolism in my paintings to lead me to inner growth. This is a process that I teach through my sessions and workshops but it’s not the only tool in my bag. In fact, to maintain myself healthy and attuned to the joy I engage in tons of different self-care activities.
Remember when I mentioned that sometimes the hardest mountain to climb is being nice to ourselves? Well, our minds can be our worst enemy if they’re not in check, and certainly if you do not engage in self-love. You may choose different alternatives to practice self-love, but for me, it’s daily self-love rituals. Among the things that I engage in during my week are ayurvedic oil massages, using the ascended masters oils and products (daily), meditation (short ones 3-5 min), taking salt baths with oils in them, the food and content that I watch or read (I admit I continue to better myself in these areas, I’m a work in progress :-D). I also use tarot/oracle cards, I get coaching sessions, akashic readings, reiki sessions, color therapy and frequency treatments at my chiropractor, spending quality time with my family, time in nature among other things (like expressive arts -singing, dancing etc. and more). For you it can look different, like spending time with a pet, hiking, reading, or even cooking. Anything can be part of your self-love routine, you just have to choose joy in your life and tap it from many different sources.
Having different techniques to self soothe is most important during difficult times, because your normal self-care routine may not be enough to help you with the emotional (aka energy) load. During these times is also pivotal to combat loneliness, being separated from the ones we love and interacting with people has surely done a number on us. So plan a small gathering, have dinner with a friend and trust that everything will be okay.
Believe it or not, taking care of yourself is of utmost importance in our ascension journey. Just imagine, you are welcoming your Divine self into your temple, you want to have it in the best conditions, therefore you give it tons of maintenance and love. The journey is not only about how we treat others, but how we treat ourselves… Ever heard the phrase you can’t love others until you love yourself? It probably comes from “love thy neighbor as yourself”- the famous second commandment Jesus gave in the Bible. Which essentially means love yourself first! Why? Because until you love yourself and understand that you are a Divine God/Goddess, you may interpret other’s trauma as an attack, making you react in a not so divine way. We must master the mind, emotions, and spirit after all!
For now, follow the joy, honor and pamper yourself. Remember that at the heart of everything, like Verna Maruata says, is to choose to act, speak and think from a place of love, compassion and respect. To others and to yourself, my loves.
Sending hugs and kisses,
